Buffalo as the Nation's First Living Laboratory for Reclaiming Vacant Properties

In 2006 a team of experts from the National Vacant Properties Campaign devised a regional revitalization strategy for Buffalo & Erie County to address the mounting numbers of vacant properties. The plan calls for the designation of Buffalo as the nation's first Living Laboratory for Vacant Property Reclamation. This paper presents a vision of what the Living Lab would look like.

Asbury Delaware Church

Once threatened with demolition, the historic Asbury Delaware Church has been converted into a combination concert facility, lounge, arts center and offices. LISC helped make this project possible by providing a significant allocation of New Market Tax Credits through its subsidiary, the New Market Support Corporation.

The NFL Comes to All-High Stadium

Healthy neighborhoods offer green spaces where people of all ages can enjoy leisure and sporting activities. LISC's partnership with the Buffalo Bills, the National Football League, and the NFL Players Association provided a $200,000 grant for All High Stadium at Bennett High School.
