Our Work

MetroEdge

LISC MetroEdge offers services to aid city neighborhoods, public officials, and investors in understanding emerging markets, preparing for development, accessing the marketplace, and helping communities become market ready.

Locally, MetroEdge has provided market research support to two of LISC's partner organizations - PUSH Buffalo and University District Community Development Association. LISC's tools and technical assistance helped secure a total of $800,000 in government funding through the Better Buffalo Fund for commercial corridor revitalizaiton projects on the city's West Side and University District. These awards will provide funding for streetscape enhancements and renovations to small businesses along commercial corridors.

We had business owners who said, ‘Here’s what I want to do. If I’m able to access this grant, I’ll be able to push that forward.’
— Darren Cotton, UDCDA

"We had seven business owners who said, ‘Here’s what I want to do. If I’m able to access this grant, I’ll be able to push that forward.’" said Darren Cotton, Director of Planning & Community Development at UDCDA. "The fact that we actually have the money in hand will be more of an encouragement to get people engaged."

The ability of LISC partners to apply for State funds on behalf of small businesses for façade improvements and minor renovations provides underserved communities access to resources that are not always readily available. Ensuring our partners have the expertise and resources to facilitate the application and implementation of these programs is a valuable resource to the community.
