LISC National
Our Work

Healthy Communities

One of the key components of LISC’s comprehensive strategy for revitalizing neighborhoods is ensuring they become healthy places to live. In addition to affordable housing, education, jobs and financial stability, residents must have an environment that supports their overall health and wellness.

Here in Buffalo, we have focused our efforts on providing families with access to nutritional resources and green space in their neighborhoods. The groups that we support are working to revitalize spaces for parks, community gardens, and safe recreational facilities. They are striving to improve access to fresh, locally grown food in areas of Buffalo that are food deserts. LISC’s support is ensuring that residents’ health plays a significant role in building a resilient community.
