What We Do
The Connecticut Statewide LISC program assists community development corporations (CDCs) in revitalizing neighborhoods and producing affordable housing throughout the state of Connecticut. The program was launched in 2000 to serve those communities outside of Hartford. Given the diversity of community development organizations in the state, the Connecticut Statewide program is using a two-tiered strategy:
-
target project
financing resources to experienced CDCs enabling them to increase their scale of
development; and,
- provide training and technical assistance to all CDCs to expand the development capacity of the industry statewide.
The primary goal of the Connecticut Statewide LISC program is to increase the scale and impact of community development in Connecticut by expandning the development capacity of nonprofit and community-based developers.
In support of this goal,
the Connecticut Statewide LISC program carries out activities focused on three
objectives:
-
Strengthen
financial capacity by providing predevelopment and construction financing;
- Increase
technical capacity through quality technical assistance and
training;
- Improve the public policy environment supporting community development resources and programs through policy analysis and advocacy.
The core activities of the Connecticut Statewide LISC program include: project investment, capacity-building investment, training and technical assistance, and public policy development.
