Aderhouse was founded in 1994 to create affordable housing in the New London, CT region. Founded by an architect to promote quality design and construction management services for affordable projects. Early projects often included historic renovations and had positive neighborhood impact. First projects included substantial rehabilitation and resale of abandoned or blighted one and two family structures in New London, CT. Alderhouse also developed Artist co-operative housing in New London, Middletown and currently in New Britain.
Alderhouse has grown steadily over the past years, expanding geographically to work in most of the state Project size has also grown from 1 and 2 family homes to small multifamily developments and now projects of approximately 30-40 units each. They have completed 10 projects and currently have 11 in the project pipline. They have entered into partnerships with social service agencies seeking to build supportive housing in two different communities. They are partnering with inexperienced or volunteered groups both in New Milford and New Haven, and see this partnership approach as an effective way to work in multiple, small communities that cannot financially support a local CDC.

NNI
is a community-based not-for-profit organization. For 36 years, it has
championed quality housing in Stamford
for those least able to afford it. It has built over 300 units of affordably
priced rental and ownership housing that have been catalysts for betterment for
families and neighborhoods.
Today,
the region faces a shortage of housing that is affordable by hundreds of working
families, raising quality of life and economic viability issues. In response,
NNI has broadened its focus to include development of workforce housing for the
people and families making less than 70% median income, who make
Stamford
work. NNI has also built and manages rental properties for independent seniors
who are priced out of their neighborhoods and community.
