NHC 2009 "Pioneering Housing Strategies" Award finalist: Preservation of Affordable Housing, Inc.

LISC's partner Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) recently won recognition as one of the National Housing Conference's "Pioneering Housing Strategies" 2009 finalists for it's approach to preserving at-risk affordable housing.
In 2008, LISC provided $3.4 million to enable Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) to purchase and rehabilitate a portfolio of at-risk Section 8 properties in Florida. POAH purchased the properties from Greater Miami Neighborhoods, a Florida-based non-profit, after the seller entered into bankruptcy following over 20 years serving Florida communities. POAH's approach to preserving affordable housing resources, exemplified by this transaction, recently won the organization recognition as one of National Housing Conference's "Pioneering Housing Strategies" 2009 finalists.
