Deutsche Bank said Wednesday it has agreed to commit $2.4 million to the Milwaukee Rising project to deal with foreclosures.
It's the second bank to make such a commitment to the community group Common Ground, which has been trying to get five major banks to make a financial commitments of $2.4 million each to help rehab and clean up foreclosed properties in the Sherman Park neighborhood.

In a letter to Bob Connolly, of Common Ground, the German-based bank said it will provide $100,000 for a Cleanslate program in Milwaukee. That program is run by Mercy Housing of Chicago. It provides property preservation and jobs to underserved populations.
In the letter, Gary Hattem, the managing director of Deutsche Bank's community development finance group, also committed a $300,000, three-year grant for community stabilization efforts in Milwaukee led by the Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC). Continued[+]...
