Zilber names organizations to spearhead neighborhood projects

Philanthropist Joseph Zilber handed out the first $5 million in grants to five nonprofit organizations, part of his $50 million initiative to improve poor neighborhoods in Milwaukee. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
The $50 million Zilber initiative to improve poor neighborhoods in Milwaukee will be run by an operating partnership consisting of Milwaukee LISC, and United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee. The partnership includes Susan Lloyd, a senior adviser to the Zilber Family Foundation, who is designing the program.
LISC is receiving a $1.6 million grant over four years to provide technical, marketing, communications and financial assistance to the community groups as they develop and carry out their plans for neighborhood improvements.
