A South End multipurpose field gets a dramatic overhaul.
New field with $700,000 FieldTurf surface nearly ready at Classical
(Excerpts):
...In two weeks, either the Classical softball team or its girls lacrosse team will christen a new $700,000 FieldTurf field that is certain to become the outdoor gem of the South End.
...This field of green, 4 1/2 years in the making, represents a collaboration among Rhode Island LISC, the National Football League, the New England Patriots, Rhode Island Hospital, Citizens Bank Foundation, Champlin Foundation, City of Providence and Classical. The project took four times longer than similar efforts elsewhere because it involved as many moving parts as a razzle-dazzle football play.
