KCMO Talk Radio 710 Kansas City interviews Joe Schilling and Doug Leeper. Mr. Schilling and Mr. Leeper were brought together by Greater Kansas City LISC to help local leadership develop solutions that address vacant properties in the city.

Joe Schilling is Professor in Practice at the Metropolitan Institute at Virginia Tech. He leads the Institute’s Green Regions Initiative that explores the policy dimension of creating environmentally sustainable regions through better building and community design. Joe also served for over seven years as Director of Community and Economic Development for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and founded ICMA’s Vacant Properties Network where he conducted trainings, cyber brown bags, and annual conference sessions.

Doug Leeper is owns the consulting firm Code Enforcement Solutions. He has served as code enforcement manager for the California cities of San Bernardino and Riverside. He wrote the Pro-Active Code Enforcement training program. He now serves as code enforcement manager for the city of Chula Vista, Calif.
