Upper Room program provides good summer fun: learning

Kansas City Star featured the announcement of Greater Kansas City LISC's $2 million loan to the Swope Corridor Renaissance Upper Room, Inc., a free eight-week summer educational program for low-income elementary and middle school students in Kansas City.

The Swope Corridor Renaissance Upper Room program, which provides free summer academic camps, got an important boost to its mission last week with a $2 million bridge loan from the Greater Kansas City Local Initiatives Support Corp.

"LISC is proud to help sustain and expand a program that so effectively provides essential educational services," said Julie Porter, executive director of the charitable lender.
