Project Profile:

Green development: Boston LISC and its partner, New Ecology, Inc. continued to offer technical assistance to CDCs interested in green development techniques and resources. Six projects are now underway. These developments will provide a total of 263 rental and home ownership units, once completed. Moreover, Boston LISC continued to raise funds to create a pool of $3 million that will provide low-cost, short-term financing for green projects. One such project is the redevelopment of St. Polycarps, a Somerville property owned by the Archdiocese of Boston that will eventually feature a mix of 85 rental and home ownership units and commercial space. In 2006, a charrette sponsored by LISC and NEI brought together more than 25 architects, builders, engineers, and city officials, who covered a range of green development and design topics including construction technologies, green roofs, renewable energy installations and building envelope design.
