Project Profile:

Expanding investment in housing and commercial real estate development: In 2006, Michigan LISC provided more than $3 million towards the development on new public, affordable and mixed-use, and mixed-income housing in several Michigan cities. For example, in Flint, Michigan, LISC supported the Genesee County Land Bank’s Berridge Place project to convert a former "flop-house" into a 23-unit mixed-income development. In Lansing, Michigan LISC approved an acquisition loan for $867,900 to the Lansing Housing Commission to acquire the former Michigan School for the Blind, which will be redeveloped into 133 residential units and commercial space. And in Grand Rapids, LISC provided New Markets Tax Credits for Avenue of the Arts: Martineau Project, a rehabilitation project of four historic buildings into mixed-use development in the historic Heartside/Arena district.
