The New England region's top experts in green rehabs for affordable housing gathered in Braintree, MA on July 23, 2009 to share their knowledge and experience.

This workshop was made possible by LISC, NeighborWorks America, NERC-NAHRO, and the Mel King Institute for Community Building.

Conference Recap

The Recovery Act provided billions of dollars for weatherization and green retrofits for public housing, HUD-assisted and other affordable housing. This event featured experts in the New England Region talking about how to access this money.

Topics included:

  • HUD and DOE's new programs - explained by the people that designed and will be implementing them.
  • Advice on how to best put this new money to use when greening your property.
  • Due diligence and planning differences between a green rehabilitation and traditional rehab.
  • A review of due diligence tools you will need to get started immediately including:
    • Green physical needs assessments
    • Energy audits; and
    • Pest management audits
