Our Expert

MEL GILL, B.A., MSW, is President, Synergy Associates Consultants in Governance and Organizational Development. Mel is the author of the widely acclaimed book, Governing for Results: A Director's Guide to Good Governance, adopted by United Way Canada as a core resource for their board development curriculum. Mel was also a keynote presenter at a conference of leading academics, researchers and consultants sponsored by the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership at the Bloch School of Business, University of Missouri at Kansas City and The Nonprofit Quarterly. Mel is a faculty member of the Fundamentals of Governance course offered by Queen’s University, School of Business, Executive Development Program which was ranked #1 in North America by the U. S. Report on Business. Mel has received numerous honors for leadership in mental health and children’s services and served 17 years in the Saskatchewan Public Service and 12 years as CEO of one of Canada’s largest nonprofit social services agencies.
