Archived webcast from 12/17/08, fourth in the 2008-2009 State Policy Webcast Series, entitled "The Power of Vacant Properties: Vacant Properties as Key Assets." Examine the latest developments and new dimensions in vacant properties reclamation.

Event Description

More vacant and abandoned properties are a natural consequence of the current foreclosure crisis and restructuring of financial markets. With more vacant properties comes more crime, blight, and disorder that can strip neighborhood reinvestment. Communities today have the opportunity to consider creative reuse and reclamation as catalysts for growing more sustainable communities — like code enforcement, land banking, and real estate property information systems. This webcast examined the latest developments and new dimensions in vacant properties reclamation. Presenters surveyed innovative practices, offered implementation insights, and opened the webcast for extensive audience participation.
