Metro Detroit Regional Investment Initiative
The cross-jurisdictional Metro Detroit Regional Investment Initiative addresses the consequences of urban sprawl impacting Detroit and its inner ring suburban neighbors, such as racial and cultural tensions, urban blight, and social injustice in the form of inequitable access to basic services. The Regional Initiative supports three community collaboratives which are implementing regional investment strategies including: physical revitalization of housing and commercial corridors; social equity programs, which include race/cultural relations; community safety; cultivation of community leadership; and resident empowerment.
