Public Policy
LISC works to strengthen the public
policy environment that supports the community development industry in
Hartford and across
Connecticut. Hartford LISC has
been very active in advocating for increased resources and better programs to
promote strong community development.
At the state level, LISC has focused on
expanding capital financing for housing and community development. Within
Hartford, LISC has participated in the Mayor's homeownership initiative,
advocating for CDCs and for neighborhood revitalization in distressed areas.
LISC also works directly with federal, state, and local agencies to facilitate
relationships with CDCs and to strengthen programs to support urban and
community development.
Through its advocacy activity, LISC also participates in
several coalitions of organizations with a common community development
agenda.
