Houston LISC supports community-driven change at the neighborhood level, while also advocating for city-wide policies that support and encourage sustainable development. Houston LISC maintains an active public policy presence at the federal, state and local levels and asks lawmakers to address systemic issues.
Houston LISC helps to convene the Housing Working Group, a diverse collection of organizations working in Houston. The group’s aim is to develop, adopt and implement a cohesive comprehensive and equitable housing policy framework with communities, the public and private sectors.
The objectives of LISC's national policy initiatives are established through careful collaboration with LISC’s local offices and LISC’s Public Policy Advisory Committee. LISC's holistic approach to building communities attracts policy allies from the business, social service, education, environmental, and community development sectors.
