Charter Schools

Why LISC?
Access to good public education is a critical foundation for a healthy neighborhood, yet attaining sufficient facilities stands as the biggest hurdle for public charter and alternative schools. LISC understands that locating charter schools within Indianapolis’ central city will increase the population willing to invest in our urban neighborhoods.  In April 2005, Mayor Bart Peterson and LISC announced the creation of the Indianapolis Charter Schools Facilities Fund, the nation's first city-developed, comprehensive charter school facility financing program.
