- Why LISC
The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) helps residents transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy, sustainable communities -- good places to live, work, do business and raise children. In 1999, the Community Foundation, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation and Mayor John Delaney invited LISC (the largest community development support organization in the US) to bring its community development model to Jacksonville.
Since then, LISC Jacksonville has invested over $72 million in Jacksonville's urban core and leveraged over $228 million from outside sources for homes, apartments and commercial spaces in Jacksonville's distressed neighborhoods.
We believe that people can make good choices for themselves and their communities with the right information and resources.
Teamwork and Collaboration
We "build community" by connecting people to each other, institutions, information, resources and new ideas.
Strategic Risk Taking
We leverage capital to boldly and strategically attract public and private investments into communities.
Accountability and Results
We invest time and money in people and institutions to produce results that can be quantified and measured.
