About Us
Jacksonville LISC has been working since
1999 to assist in the growth of strong CDCs with the capacity to implement
neighborhood development initiatives. Jacksonville LISC has committed over $3.4 million in grants and $6 million low cost loans to 10 CDCs for both organizational
development and project financing. These funds have allowed CDCs to open
offices, hire key staff, and begin the development or rehabilitation of single
family homes to increase homeownership, acquire and develop affordable rental
housing, renovate commercial space, develop a culinary arts training center and
restore and enhance a youth football field. In addition, LISC staff has
strategically worked to cultivate a local climate that attracts increasing
public and private financial resources to support CDC initiatives in
Jacksonville.
Since 1980, LISC has marshaled more than $5.7 billion from 3,100 investors,
lenders, and donors. In over 300 urban and rural communities
nationwide, LISC
has helped 2,400 CDCs build or rehabilitate more than
147,000 affordable homes
and almost 22 million square feet of retail,
community, and educational space –
totaling almost $13 billion in
development. As a result, hundreds of thousands
of people have better
lives and brighter futures.
Although LISC works in many areas, every
community is different and the best solutions come from neighborhood residents
themselves.
