What We Do

Financial Opportunity Center

Financial Opportunity Centers (FOC) are an important part of LISC’s approach to building strong, vibrant communities. Thriving neighborhoods are made up of residents who feel confident that their incomes will grow, their job prospects will improve, and their lives will become stable. LISC is committed to helping families increase their income, decrease expenses, reduce unnecessary debt, make investments and save money. FOCs provide career and financial coaching that helps residents improve the financial bottom line for themselves and their families. The strength of the FOC model lies in the fact that the anchor component of this method is employment along with long-term engagement with each client.

Currently, LISC Jacksonville supports one Financial Opportunity Center located Jacksonville’s New Town neighborhood. Creating financial stability starts with a sustainable-wage job, which leads to a more stable family financial position, which in turns leads to growing both income and assets for the family (home ownership).
