LISC Executive Appointed to PIEA Board

Kansas City, MO (July 22, 2008) - Mayor Mark Funkhouser announced new appointments to the Plan Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA) Board, including Greater Kansas City LISC Senior Program Officer John Wood.  As a candidate for Mayor, Funkhouser promised to change the way Kansas City uses economic development tools. The Mayor’s appointments reflect that change. “I believe these individuals will effectively carry out my agenda to reshape how the City encourages economic development,” said Mayor Funkhouser.

Wood is one of seven new members selected to serve. Speaking at the press event, he expressed enthusiasm about the appointment. "PIEA and LISC have the same goal - increase community and economic development in Kansas City, thereby helping make the city more livable. I truly enjoy seeing projects come to fruition and this appointment will allow me to be further involved in this important work," said Wood.

Wood joined Greater Kansas City LISC in 2005.  He is responsible for all lending and underwriting and has since successfully underwritten nearly $10 million in new loans. Prior to LISC, he held leadership positions with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Kansas City. He is President of the Urban Financial Services Coalition Foundation, a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Truman Medical Center, and is a founding member and officer of the UFSC Chapter of Greater Kansas City.
