LISC LA’s Ride & Drive Event During National Drive Electric Week (NDEW)

8.30.2018

Electric Vehicles cut dangerous air pollution that comes from conventional vehicles. Poor air quality from gasoline vehicles impacts low-income communities the most. We can be a part of the solution--reducing air emissions by taking advantage of the rebates that are being offered in Los Angeles.

The country’s transportation sector is responsible for nearly a third of the nation’s carbon pollution. Twenty percent (20%) of the nation’s carbon emissions are from cars and light trucks on the road. EVs, on average, emit significantly less carbon than conventional vehicles due to the fact that it has no tailpipe emissions. This is the case even when taking into account the emissions from the electricity produced to charge EVs.

EVs gets cleaner over time as we clean up the electric grid. And the cleanest way to power EVs is to charge them on electricity that comes from solar and wind power.

Electric and hybrid vehicles are creating more American jobs, decreasing pollution, and promoting greater energy security. Advanced technology vehicles and components are being built in at least 20 states, creating thousands of new, good jobs. According to David Foster, executive director of the BlueGreen Alliance, “Ramping up an electric vehicle fleet will also spur investment in vehicle electrification, creating jobs in construction and accelerating our move to a smart grid--just the kind of investment we need to put people back to work, revitalize our economy, and ensure America is competitive in the 21st century economy.”

EVs are fun to drive, are less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, are better for the environment, promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on petroleum.
