Moment #20: NFL Grassroots Program

Kare Park Opening Day Ceremony

Athletic fields can help transform neighborhoods by offering opportunities for recreation, education and relaxation that contribute to healthy, thriving communities. The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program seeks to redress the shortage of clean, safe and accessible football fields in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods by providing grants for capital improvements. The grant program is a partnership between the National Football League Foundation, which provides funding, and LISC, which provides technical assistance and manages the program.

This year, LA LISC supported Kare Youth League with a $100,000 grant to help build the new Kare Stadium, the only park in the city of Irwindale.

Congratulations to Kare Youth League for your new field!

Complete with football, baseball, soccer, and volleyball facilities, the park is a much needed amenity for families in the San Gabriel Valley. We are so thrilled to be able to help improve access to safe spaces for LA County residents to be active and live healthier lives. #zipmatters
