Partner Highlight: HUD Section 4 Grant Increases Capacity Of West Angeles CDC

LISC equips struggling communities with the capital, strategy and know-how to become places where people can thrive. Working with local leaders, we invest in housing, health, education, public safety and employment - all basic needs that must be tackled at once so that progress in one is not undermined by neglect in another. Sharing our expertise of 30-plus years, we bring together key local players to take on pressing challenges and incubate new solutions. As one of America’s largest community development support organizations, LISC provides financial, organizational, and management support to local organizations dedicated to revitalizing their communities and improving the quality of life for residents. Financial support is offered in the form of loans, grants, equity investments and on-the-ground experience to help community developers and other partners revitalize their neighborhoods.

LA LISC uses HUD Section 4 funds to increase the capacity of community development corporations (CDCs) working in Los Angeles County to assist underserved communities in meeting locally identified needs. West Angeles CDC is one of LA LISC’s HUD Section 4 grantees. The mission of West Angeles Community Development Corporation is to increase social and economic justice, demonstrate compassion and alleviate poverty through the vehicle of community development.

Through the HUD Section 4 grant, LA LISC sponsored West Angeles CDC’s West Angeles Concierge Suites in Inglewood. These suites are the perfect work spaces for creative professionals & entrepreneurs and assist underserved professionals and entrepreneurs in Los Angeles County. This is how LA LISC serves as an intermediary, building bridges between local non-profit partners and the resources they need to transform underserved neighborhoods into thriving communities of opportunity and choice.
