LA LISC

LISC’s efforts in Los Angeles are geared towards amassing financial and technical resources for Neighborhood Intermediaries and Community Development Corporations to enable them to undertake projects and programs geared towards improving the economic, physical and social living environment of economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

As a capital provider and capital aggregator, LA LISC is working with these organizations to deliver our capital and help attract capital from conventional lenders, foundations and government entities to help implement comprehensive community development strategies.  LA LISC has built upon this foundation to stimulate more enduring and far-reaching transformation.  Our strategy is designed to fortify communities from within - through capital delivery, planning, organizing and human development.  

This comprehensive approach is captured through LISC’s “Building Sustainable Communities” initiative which broadens opportunities for local residents through quality housing, better education, broader job choices, safer streets, improved personal health, new economic opportunities, and stronger personal finances. 

The Building Sustainable Communities strategy is focused on achieving five synergistic and interconnected goals within our communities. 

(1) Developing, preserving, and investing in the physical environment;

(2) Increasing family income and wealth;

(3) Stimulating economic activity, locally and regionally;

(4) Improving access to quality education; and,

(5) Fostering livable, safe, and healthy environments and lifestyles.
