LA LISC is working with CDC's and other closely aligned Neighborhood Intermediaries to identify and evaluate different approaches to organizing their work in community development. The overall goal of this effort provides participants with both the tools and the insights into how to make critical choices regarding how, when and why an organization would want to work collaboratively with others to design, manage or implement a comprehensive community development strategy.
Newly Appointed Executive DirectorThe Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Claudia Lima to Executive Director of LA LISC. Jeffrey Graham has decided to move on to other pursuits; we thank him for his leadership and service. Many of you know Claudia, until today our senior program officer for lending and an established leader in community development here in LA. Those of us at LISC have enjoyed her energetic, solutions-oriented, collaborative style and have tremendous confidence in Claudia. Claudia has been involved in every aspect of the LA LISC program including recent successful efforts to mitigate the impact of state budget woes on area charter schools serving low-income communities. During her tenure, she has been responsible for the lending and grant making activities; identifying and creating capacity building and programmatic initiatives needed for the local market; and oversees and coordinates LISC's Building Sustainable Communities Initiative, a holistic community development approach that ensures transactions are evaluated within the context of surrounding neighborhoods to catalyze revitalization. Claudia is a long-time resident of the area, knowledgeable about its neighborhoods, people and investment needs. ~ Mariano Diaz, Program Vice President
