Main Street Initiatives
The Neighborhood Main Street Initiative (NMSI) is a great economic
development building block that breathes life into a targeted area for economic
redevelopment. By identifying commercial strips for facade improvement,
organizational development and promotion, the Main Street efforts create
business momentum which means new businesses, new jobs and economic
stabilization.
Communities where LISC has focused efforts for improvement often have existing commercial properties that need rehabilitation; LISC provides commercial loans for building improvements where many private capital sources won't because of the perception of low profitability and high risk. LISC will partner with private lenders on these properties or step in first to demonstrate confidence.
