What is MANDI?

Sponsored by U.S. Bank, in partnership with LISC Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation are “the Oscars of the Community Development World”. The MANDIs recognize efforts to strengthen Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods. 

While many people are working hard to improve Milwaukee’s neighborhoods, their stories are often untold. The MANDIs recognize the inspiring, innovative, and tenacious work of people who are improving the quality of life in our central city, says Leo Ries, LISC Milwaukee Executive Director.

Finalists and winners are selected by an independent, cross-sector volunteer selection committee. The committee reviews nominations and selects three finalists in each of five categories. Winners will be announced at a gala event at the Pfister Hotel in the spring. This annual event brings together corporations, foundations, lenders, small businesses, developers, and nonprofits for a night of celebration and fun.

MANDI Categories

Northern Trust Navigator Award for outstanding collaborative effort.

Brewers Community Foundation Public Space Award for the creation or use of public space that contributes significantly to the overall well-being of the community.

PNC Trail Blazer Award for an innovative approach to a community problem.

State Farm Insurance Building Blocks Award for a real estate project that contributes significantly to the enhancement of the community.

Harris Bank Cornerstone Award for a long-standing commitment that demonstrates persistence and 
effectiveness over time.

Joseph J. Zilber Award for outstanding financial investment in Milwaukee’s central city.
