On October 28th, 2011, LISC hosted Milwaukee’s first Community Development Symposium titled Neighborhood Matters in Milwaukee: A Report to Stakeholders hosted by the Marquette University Law School. Emmy-award winning journalist Mike Gousha served as the master facilitator.
While many stakeholders are working to improve Milwaukee neighborhoods, the symposium provided a forum for people to reflect on the big picture and assess the sum of all our parts. Given the current and upcoming challenges facing Milwaukee, the symposium was an opportunity to take a critical look at the state of community development in our city.
The symposium brought together community leaders –at both grasstops and grassroots levels—for reports and dialog on increasing our collective impact on Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods.
