National LISC

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is the country's largest community development support organization, dedicated to helping low-income urban and rural communities transform them into healthy communities of choice – good places to live, do business, work and raise families. LISC have invested more than $6 billion in 300 urban and rural communities nationwide through the mobilization of corporate, government and philanthropic support.  LISC has helped community development corporations (CDCs) build more than 160,000 affordable homes and 25 million square feet of retail, community and educational space - totaling nearly $14 billion in development.

LISC New York City
LISC New York City raises grants, loans and equity for strategic investments in community development organizations. We commit to working with community groups over a long period of time, providing them with consultation and training in addition to financial support to help these organizations – and the residents they serve – prosper as they improve their communities. LISC New York City also facilitates strategic partnerships between public and private stakeholders that provide additional financial resources and leadership to community groups assisting low- and moderate-income families in New York City.

LISC New York City Accomplishments
Since 1980, LISC NYC has served as a critical link between non-profit community developers, the government and the private sector, providing over $160 million in loans and grants and over $1.5 billion in equity to more than 75 community development corporations (CDCs) and entrepreneurs. These groups have used those funds to develop close to 30,000 units of affordable housing in Harlem, the South Bronx, and Brooklyn. CDCs have also raised an additional $3.3 billion for neighborhood redevelopment and are responsible for at least 60,000 units of renovated and/or new homes and apartments and over 2 million square feet of commercial space.
