Homeownership Counselor
The Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a not-for-profit community development organization, serving 8,000 individuals a year with high quality housing counseling & development, economic development, community organizing and youth and family services programs. The Homeownership Counselor will be responsible for:
Responsibilities:
- Counseling first-time homebuyers and homeowners each year on all aspects of homeownership, including but not limited to budgeting and savings, qualifying for a mortgage or refinance, reverse mortgages, home equity loan, mortgage and other loan terms, credit and debt counseling, legal aspects of home buying, etc.
- Packaging mortgages, home equity, reverse mortgage and refinancing loans
- Assisting with the development and coordination of educational seminars for new prospective homeowners
- Outreach and market counseling services and educational programs to potential homeowners
- Establish and maintain relationships with lending institutions and package loans
- Maintain program files and records and completion of reports to funders and supervisors in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- BS in Business, Urban Planning, Social Work or related fields or 2-3 years relevant work experience or equivalent work/educational experience
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Computer literate
- Neighborhood Works Homebuyer Education Certification preferred
- Bilingual: English/Spanish required
Salary: $35-38,000 dependent upon experience and education
