About Us

Welcome to the Cleveland/Northeast Ohio Local Initiatives Support Corporation website.

Here you will find information and resources specific to LISC efforts underway in Lorain, Summit, and Stark, Ohio. The Cleveland LISC office has been working for more than 20 years to address the problems of deteriorating urban neighborhoods in Cuyahoga County.  Opened in 1982, Cleveland is among the oldest LISC offices in the country. In 2000, the Northeast Ohio LISC program was launched as an outgrowth of the highly successful Cleveland LISC program.

To date, the Cleveland and Northeast Ohio LISC program has invested $20 million and more than $168 million in equity to 40 CDCs. These organizations built over 4,000 units of housing and over 1 million square feet of commercial and industrial space. The combined development costs of LISC-supported projects in Northeast Ohio totals more than $400 million.

LISC also provides operating support, organizational development and training, as well as technical assistance in project development. Community-based organizations can access a variety of financial tools to help package projects for their neighborhoods.

These organizations develop senior and other residential housing, day care centers, job programs, county services buildings, transportation plans, revitalize business districts, and many other initiatives, utilizing LISC support. LISC believes that locally directed physical change efforts are a powerful tool to revitalizing communities.
