In fall of 2004, Community Housing Options Involving Cooperative Efforts (CHOICE) celebrated the ribbon cutting for The Arlington Gardens Senior Citizens’ complex on the North side of Youngstown.

Phil Smith, Executive Director of CHOICE, said, “Arlington Gardens will be the anchor building that will start a major development in the Arlington Heights neighborhood. We are anticipating the revitalization of the neighborhood, complete with new homes, in the very near future.”

The $5.5 million, three-story building was built as a part of the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authorities HOPE VI development at the site of the former Westlake Terrace.

Built and developed in partnership with the NRP Group the 40-unit, two bedroom development is targeted to residents 55 and over. The National Equity Fund, an affiliate of LISC, invested in the project.
