A conversation between two leaders in community development and health about their fields’ perspectives related to the social determinants of health.

Panel 1: Community Development and Food Equity (9:50 - 10:50 am)
Communities for Healthy Food is a LISC NYC initiative that has supported five community organizations to plan and implement diverse strategies to increase access to healthy food in their neighborhoods. The discussion will focus on methods, including community engagement, that community partners used to develop their strategies, which interventions were most effective, and how the initiative impacted residents, their communities and their health.  

Panel 2: Housing, Health and Environmental Equity (11:00 - 12:00 pm)
Two Shades of Green is a LISC NYC initiative that has supported ten community development corporations to implement sustainability and health interventions into their affordable housing portfolios. The discussion will focus on the successes and challenges of the work, and the evidence of impact on residents’ health.   

Panel 3: Future of the Intersection of Health and Community Development (12:20 - 1:30 pm)
A discussion about new models of partnership between the health care and community development sectors, including promising practices, and challenges moving forward.
