The 2017 LISC NYC Big Apple Innovation Awards

1.27.2017

On January 24, 2017, LISC NYC’s annual Big Apple Innovation Awards event brought together over 500 community development professionals to celebrate the outstanding leadership, innovation and dedication of individuals and organizations who share our vision for an inclusive New York City.

President of Citi Foundation Brandee McHale received the Lisa & Dick Cashin Champion of Community Development Award, and The Joint Ownership Entity (JOE) received the Innovation of the Year Award.

“We chose our honorees tonight because of the way their work aligns with our mission of advancing equity and inclusion,” said Sam Marks. “JOE NYC is our innovation of the year. It demonstrates the evolution of the NYC nonprofit housing sector reaching new heights to achieve scale and competitiveness, while maintaining community ownership and stewardship. And Brandee McHale is an extraordinary philanthropic partner who believes in investing in local leadership and building the capacity of the nonprofit sector to drive economic opportunity. Because our neighborhoods need so much more than just affordable housing, LISC NYC has made a major investment in our economic development programming, and we have Citi to thank for it through their Community Progress Makers Award.”

LISC NYC also unveiled its new branding video at the event. Check it out!
