LISC Lending, In the Lead

For the fourth consecutive year, LISC’s Lending department has been honored among the ImpactAssets 50, a who’s-who of fund managers dedicated to creating positive social and environmental impact. The team’s outstanding portfolio balance of $420 million and delinquency rate under 2% earned this year’s recognition.

LISC makes the ImpactAssets 50 List for Fourth Consecutive Year

LISC has been recognized as an ImpactAssets 50 (IA 50) Fund for 2019. This marks the fourth consecutive year that LISC has been selected as an IA 50 fund, and the eighth year ImpactAssets has selected funds. IA 50 2019 saw a record number of applications. Fund managers included in the IA 50 2019 manage an estimated $28.5 in assets devoted to creating positive social and environmental impact.

LISC received the ranking in light of our outstanding portfolio balance of $420 million and delinquency rate under 2% as of September 2018. As a leader in community development financing, LISC leverages public and private sector capital to meet the needs of the communities and partners we serve. For example, our leveraging of private debt capital along with the CDFI Fund’s Capital Magnet Fund award creates affordable housing for low-income populations in LISC’s hottest markets. This is illustrated in Los Angeles where LISC financed $826,000 to provide permanent financing to a 49-unit permanent housing facility. Or, in Washington DC, where a $2.85 LISC loan provided predevelopment financing for the adaptive reuse of St. Elizabeth’s psychiatric facility into a 252-unit mixed-income development with 14,000 square feet of commercial space for small businesses and local development.

“This year’s IA 50 highlights a diverse and tested group of fund managers that are delivering environmental and social impact as well as solid investment returns,” said Jed Emerson, ImpactAssets Senior Fellow, and IA 50 Review Committee Chair.  “Whether you are just starting your impact investing journey or are a veteran impact investor, the IA 50 is a trusted database to help investors identify experienced impact investment firms and explore the landscape of potential investment options.”

IA 50 is an annually updated list providing investors and their financial advisors an easy resource to begin research on the impact investing sector. Focusing on private debt and equity, IA 50 is a free, centralized source of information on funds representing a wide range of impact investing activities across geographies, sectors and asset classes. Criteria for inclusion on the list includes: three years of impact investing experience; at least $10 million in assets; and a commitment to impact.
