LISC CEO: We Can't Be Agnostic About Gentrification

Speaking on a panel about the state of Detroit’s changing neighborhoods, Maurice Jones, LISC’s president and CEO, stressed how community organizations and policy makers can help stem the displacement of low-income residents in the wake of gentrification. Look outside the box, he suggested, for strategies like rent-to-own programs that are working in other parts of the country. Local media, Jones added, must also be a megaphone for the stories of ordinary Detroit residents working to improve their neighborhoods.
