Peoria, IL – Greater Peoria LISC AmeriCorps members will take part in a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King. The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President’s national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. By participating in the MLK Day of Service is a way to start the year off right by making an impact in our community.
Members from the LISC AmeriCorps team include Peoria Neighborhood House Association, Peoria Housing Authority, Heaven’s View Community Development Corp., Mid-Central Community Action Inc., and Peoria Park District Moonlight Coalition. Members will volunteer at the Peoria Area Food Bank, an umbrella of Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Inc.
