Governor Rendell announces $1.1 million commitment to Girard Avenue Revitalization
On September 13, Governor Rendell announced a funding commitment to support the streetscape improvements on Girard Avenue. This $1.1 million dollars will match a commitment already provided by the City of Philadelphia Commerce Department to provide streetscape improvements beginning in the Mid-Girard section including the portion of Girard Avenue from Front - 6th Street.
The funds were allocated by the legislature in the latest State budget through the Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program and were committed by the Governor in recognition of the work of the Girard Coalition and the activities and improvements being undertaken on Girard Avenue.
The Girard Coalition would like to thank Governor Rendell, Mayor Street, and all of the elected officials at the State and local level who have made the funds available and who have supported this project.
