LISC National
Our Priorities

Community Safety

Making our neighborhoods safer only works when we work collaboratively. It cannot be solved by police alone. LISC’s approach to community safety brings together residents, community leaders and law enforcement to work together. By working side-by-side, the partners build trust and strengthen their relationships, improve communication, share expertise and leverage resources around a common safety agenda. Together they tackle crime hotspots, promote safety campaigns and restore blighted properties into safe places to live, shop and play. The result is a lasting community-police partnership that makes our neighborhoods safer and healthier.

Our proven strategies include:

  • SafeGrowth® is a proven method of organizing and training teams of diverse stakeholders, including leaders in community development, design, planning, law enforcement, and government, to positively impact real-life crime and safety issues.
  • CPTED is an anti-crime approach that encourages targeted and strategic changes in the physical environment to help reduce crime, such as improving lighting and site lines and addressing vacancy and abandonment.
