Like other large cities across the country, housing equity is an increasing concern for Philadelphia. With support from JPMorgan Chase & Co LISC and our equity partner, National Equity Fund teamed together to host an Asset Management Training for 12 Philadelphia-based non-profit developers. The Nuts and Bolts of Asset Management is an interactive and highly participatory, hands-on workshop designed for asset managers, property managers, supervisors and Board members with a wide range of professional experience. The curriculum is developed by LISC and is a required class for the Certified Housing Asset Manager (CHAM) Certification. The training included an overview of key property asset management concepts and theories and a review of the responsibilities of key asset management participants.
This training is part of a larger, comprehensive action-oriented strategy to preserve at-risk affordable rental housing, and can be found in the City’s Housing Action Plan, and were developed by a cross-sector body made up of non-profit, public and private agencies with subject matter expertise in preserving at-risk housing. The strategies include:
These trainings are part of LISC's larger strategy to proactively combat the effects of displacement and ensure vulnerable Philadelphians remain sheltered and safe.
