LISC Announces Jumpstart Seed Grant Application

Philadelphia LISC announces a Jumpstart Seed Grant Competition to provide funding to help with planning and start-up costs to launch Jumpstart programs in neighborhoods across Philadelphia. Three neighborhood-based organizations will be awarded up to $5,000 each to help with program start-up costs. Grants will be made to organizations that demonstrate an understanding of the Jumpstart philosophy and a commitment to engaging community and developing the skills and knowledge of local developers.

Background: Through the generous support of the Barra Foundation, LISC and Philly Office Retail have been working together to document the Jumpstart Germantown program, and develop training materials based on the fundamentals of real estate development. These materials include:

• A Jumpstart  “How-To” Guide for Neighborhoods
• A “Train the Trainers” PowerPoint Slide Deck so anyone can provide training on the principals of Jumpstart and the real estate development process  
• A Jumpstart Training Workbook, which helps to develop skills, build knowledge and offer tools for aspiring developers
