POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Philadelphia office of LISC seeks a summer intern for May to August 2019. Reporting to the Program Officer for Housing & Health, the Intern will provide the Lending and Housing programs with research and analysis, data collection and management, and project support. The Intern will make substantive and valued contributions that advance Philadelphia LISC’s mission to strengthen neighborhoods and improve the lives of Philadelphians. Responsibilities
- Assist the Lending program advance LISC’s strategy for growing its pipeline of real estate projects that foster inclusive, equitable development. This includes researching viable projects, loan products available in Philadelphia, and alternative financing models and resources.
- Assist the Lending program advance prospective real estate development loans from project concept to closing. This includes ensuring loan intake and application forms are complete and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative due diligence information.
- Assist the Housing program develop LISC’s Small Landlord Repair program, which aims to support the preservation of non-subsidized affordable rental housing. This includes researching similar programs in other cities for applicability in Philadelphia.
- Maintain database on LISC’s Affordable Rental Housing Preservation program.
- Organize and analyze data on LISC’s affordable housing and lending investment portfolio.
- Collect, analyze and manage data for grant reports and program assessments. 
- Coordinate meetings and trainings, prepare meeting agendas, take meeting minutes, and track progress on follow up action items.
- Perform additional duties, as required.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree; coursework relating to real estate development, affordable housing and/or finance.
- Ability to work 20-25hours per week.
- Familiarity with financial analysis and real estate finance.
- Familiarity with affordable housing and community development concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel; proficiency in ArcGIS a plus.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Conscientious and detail oriented.
- Team player who is able to balance multiple priorities and tasks.
- Passion for community development.
- Values collaboration, engagement, impact, and excellence.
Requirements
Interns are employed for a semester in accordance with their school schedule and must be actively enrolled in school and pursuing their BA degree or Masters.
