David Ferris has been with LISC since January 2012. As an Assistant Program Officer, he helps implement LISC's strategic programs, taking a leadership role in community engagement and a supportive role in creative placemaking, community safety, and capacity building. He also manages communications for the office.
David was transformed through seminal experiences and relationships, such as when he worked with poor homeowners in Appalachia, lived with organized peasant communities in Thailand, worked with youth in post-Katrina New Orleans, and studied popular education with the Highlander Center. He is committed to building power among populations most affected by oppression and cultivating anti-oppressive relationships.
David lives in “West Philly is the best Philly,” where he can be found gardening, cooking, and letting his dog Judy walk him. His friends make fun of him for taking himself way too seriously and eating lots of butter.
