Rachel Brooks serves as Program Officer for LISC’s Sustainable Communities Initiative in the neighborhoods of West Philadelphia, Eastern North Philadelphia and Kensington. Rachel provides strategic guidance to community-based partners and facilitates the tools, resources, and technical assistance to advance their comprehensive neighborhood plans.
With over 15 years’ experience in community development, her expertise is in community planning, land use and development, community relations, and strategic partnerships.
Originally from Chicago, Rachel moved to Philadelphia in 2001 to work at the Philadelphia City Planning Commission as a Community Planner, serving as a liaison to community engagement and planning initiatives in North Philadelphia. She later worked at the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority as the Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives, facilitating housing and economic development projects. Prior to coming on board at LISC, Rachel served as the Affordable Housing Developer at the Women's Community Revitalization Project.
Rachel earned a Master’s in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan and her bachelor's degree from Hampton University. When not working, Rachel can be found hanging out with her husband and singing Disney princess songs with her little girl.
