Making Sustainable Communities Happen
LISC Phoenix has emerged as a leader in initiating a regional discussion on sustainable community development within the context of our rapidly growing metropolitan area. In partnership with The Urban Land Institute, Maricopa Partnership for Arts and Culture, St Luke's Health Initiative, Comerica Bank, US Bank, State Farm and the Central Arizona Architecture Foundation provided funding to ASU Stardust Center to develop a 20 minute power point presentation. "Making Sustainable Communities Happen - In the Valley of the Sun" illustrates the impact of realistic solutions and designs, showing how livability has improved in several Arizona places with pedestrian-friendly streetscapes, mixed land uses, a range of housing choices, and environmentally-responsive design.
LISC Phoenix leadership on smart growth issues is helping us link community revitalization to the agendas of other interest groups and holds the promise of expanded support for our work as we move forward in implementing our targeted Sustainable Communities strategy in the coming years.
