In addition to the financial and technical assistance and training, and important networking opportunities, provided to our Partner organizations, an important aspect of the Rural LISC program is a developing series of special initiatives.
These initiatives expand our program's effectiveness by offering support for local economic development efforts that are catalyzed by arts and cultural activities, and building affordable housing in a manner that promotes the health of residents, as well as extend our program's reach into Native American geographies, and tackle the opioid epidemic that is particularly prevalent in rural America.
Rural LISC is working to address the growing public health crisis of drug abuse through its ACT for Rural America (Addiction Care and Treatment) Initiative.
In an effort to improve the quality of affordable housing in rural communities across the country, Rural LISC, in partnership with the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation, launched the Healthy Housing Initiative.
Rural LISC has found the use of place-based strategies rooted in arts and culture has proven to be a powerful vehicle in helping low-income and/or under-resourced communities achieve long-standing revitalization objectives.
Rural LISC's Native American Initiative seeks ways in which Rural LISC can better serve tribal communities, through a programmatic approach that supports CDFIs working in Native American geographies.
